Wow we have not been back to our local pub The Thorn Inn since new management due to very disappointed with the food, service, atmosphere. This is our qst time back and we are absolutely delighted, the food was beyond delicious we had the Sunday roast, Welford chicken and the Gammon, the staff were amazing especially Lynn & Minnie. The chef has got the food spot on. The berry crumble and Custard and the waffle with biscoff amazing. We will be back.. However, this was our first visit back—and we are absolutely delighted we gave it another try! The food was beyond delicious We enjoyed the Sunday roast, Welford chicken, and gammon, and every dish was spot on. A huge compliment to the chef for getting everything just right. The staff were amazing—especially Lynn and Minnie —who made us feel so welcome and well looked after throughout our visit. And we couldn’t resist dessert… the berry crumble with custard and the waffle with Biscoff were simply incredible! We’re so pleased to see such a positive change. We will definitely be back!

I can only describe my Sunday roast today as exceptional. The turkey melted in the mouth and the gammon was really tasty without being too salty. Veg perfectly cooked and I could have drank the gravy!! Great value too. Izzy looked after us very well. Pub itself has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the radiators were hot unlike many other pubs. Would highly recommend.

I met up with a friend after 22 years. It was a short reunion, but we chose a great place. The pub was very stylish, so English. I love these pubs. We had delicious food. I recommend this pub. 10/10

Really friendly atmosphere here with helpful friendly staff willing to have a chat. Steak was first rate and the pepper sauce is highly recommended. Thursdays quiz was really good with Simon. Very popular so worth booking a table for quiz night and getting your food first. Thanks for a great visit and see you again soon

This pub 12 months ago was a disgrace, tired and poorly managed by the chain that owned it but fast forward to Christmas 2025 and it's completely different with owners and staff that really care and want the pub to be part of the local community once again. We had a fantastic experience as a party of 7, dining from the Christmas menu with excellent service throughout from Alex and Tory, allergies and dietary requirements all expertly managed too. Even the booking process over the phone was great thanks to Sam, the transformation is remarkable in 12 months. The Thorn was always the hub of the village, from Lloyd and Yvonne's time when it excelled and people travelled from all round to visit (if you visit there is a bench dedicated to remember Lloyd who sadly now has passed away but that's how popular the pub was). Then to Gordon, Ian, Bernie and Cath who also did a great job running the pub until they sold up and retired, then it's gradual decline under a handful of different breweries and chains until the worst state we had seen it 12 months ago. Can definitely say the pub is back to it's best, excellent home cooked food, great selection of beers all served in the correct glasses and everything was exceptionally clean. The new owners really do know how to run a great local pub that is the heart of a village community. Thanks Alex and the team for making us all so welcome, we had a brilliant evening and it was great to hear your plans to make it even better going forward. Highly recommended, we'll be back!

Best Sunday Dinner I’ve had for a while. Roast beef with all the trimmings, served well done or pink. Nicely cooked, huge portion, delicious gravy! We arrived just after 12 and the place was already busy but the staff coped well and were very pleasant. Well done Thorn Inn!
